Professional Puppy Training

With soft and loving eyes that melt, the feeling of puppy breath on our checks, and the endless hours of entertainment and love, no wonder we all love puppies!!!  Puppies can bring such joy into our lives, but as some have found - they can bring stresses as well.  Some new owners just don't understand what they are getting into - bringing in a new puppy.

So we have decided that we would offer professional training - for those that are interested in getting a more well behaved puppy.  Those wonderful bundles of bliss, not only need love - but time, care, attention, and training.  This is where our Professional Puppy Trainer comes in.

A puppy's first year, is equivalent to a human's first 15 years of life.  What is learned during the first year - is taken throughout the life of the puppy.  It is therefore important that owners focus on helping their impressionable pups become well-mannered and happy adult dogs.

With that said, we have decided to offer our new future pet owners a chance to have their pup professionally trained prior to your pup coming home.  There are two options that you can choose from - read about them and we can discuss in further detail if you are interested.  You will be able to keep track of your own pups personal advancement with photos and video from the trainer.  And the trainer also send each pup home with a video, walking you through each command with the trainer.  So that you can continue to follow through with each command at your own home.

I am so confident with these trainers - that my young boy Pride is heading over to be trained himself.  These people are wonderful, and you will see for yourself with your new very well trained pup!!

Training Methods our Trainers use:

Praise and discipline are the key components to our training and approach.  Boundaries which consist of right and wrong behavior are clearly defined and shown to the dog/puppy.  The dog/puppy is then rewarded with physical and verbal praise every time he/she makes the right response, even if the dog is 10 years old and has done it a million times, it is still rewarded with praise, because we never take the dog from granted!

Likewise the dog/puppy is disciplined in an appropriate manner provided we are certain the dog/puppy is not possibly confused, but is instead refusing a command by choice.  The dog/puppy is also disciplined for any inappropriate behavior, beginning with verbal corrections and then following through with physical corrections if behavior continues.

Our discipline and corrections are never harsh or abusive.  For adult dogs, we simply follow through when they refuse, by making them do the command again with our help and a firm leash and or firm "NO".  For puppies, we try to emulate the puppy's mother, by giving a firm "No" in a deep voice, for inappropriate behavior.  For dominance issues, such as biting and growling, the next step is to gently place the puppy on it's back, holding it down until it submits.  The last resort is to give the puppy a firm, but gentle shake of the scruff of the neck, also using a verbal "No" in a deep voice.

It is our firm belief that consequences are the greatest teachers in life!!  What this creates is a happy, secure, well adjusted dog/puppy, who flourishes because it clearly understands right behavior from wrong behavior.  And the dog quickly learns that there is always a consequence, good or bad for every choice or action made.

So we choose to make the dog/puppy responsible for its own actions by giving the dog/puppy the choice to obey or disobey, thus instilling responsibility, respect, and decisiveness in the dog/puppy.
